Postcard Project


First Annual Community Altered Postcard Project “From Vintage Postcard to Modern Art”

Sponsored by Arts On Division Inc. A New Jersey non profit organization


Who can participate?  This project is open to anyone with a creative mind.  You can be a professional artist, a scrap booker, a student, a teacher or just someone with a good idea.

What are we to do?  Using one of the 5 postcard images provided as inspiration, alter or create a new piece of art that is 4”x 6”.   The original images are for inspiration and can be used as little or as much as you would like. You may use any medium 2-D or 3-D it can be digital or old school.  You may use any media and aren’t restricted to the classic types.  Some you might consider:  Ceramics, paint, prints, sculpture, fabric, photography, drawings, wood, paper, found objects, etc.

Where do I submit my work of Art?  Mail your final 4” x 6”work of art (signed on the back) and submission form to;

When?  All submissions must be postmarked by February 5, 2014

Why?  Arts On Division has a mission to bring the arts to the whole community.   This is a project to celebrate the history of Somerville and Somerset County with a new creative twist!  In February there will be a gallery showcase event and chosen works will be reproduced as postcards to raise funds for more Arts On Division Events and to finance a permanent gallery in downtown Somerville! (The date and place of the gallery show will be sent after entries are received).
